Advantages
During the battle, Americans strategically bombed factories, and military bases. The Battle of Okinawa helped train our military for other wars. A Japanese advantage was the use of kamikaze pilots. The kamikaze pilots would willingly crash their planes into the U.S. soldiers.
Disadvantages
The Japanese were willing to fight to the death, for it is common belief that surrendering in Japan is considered cowardly. When the U.S. rang on Okinawa's doorbell, they were answered with a strong defense which caused much bloodshed.
